Jeb is a locally born and raised native to Rapid City SD. After graduating from Rapid City Christian High School in 1995 he pursued the powerline trade working for Brink Constructors while also attaining a college degree in Business Administration from Black Hills State University in 2002. Following his heart, Jeb stayed in the powerline trade and in 2004 Jeb took a job as a lineman with the government at Western Area Power Administration where he worked for the next 17 years. Along the way Jeb met his wife, Carol and started a family settling in the Piedmont foothills.
Working for WAPA provided an amazing life any many opportunities for Jeb and his family. But there was always something missing. Jeb's rugged independent spirit always had him looking at other possibilities and ways of "doing life."
When "Covid" struck, so many things changed in the government workforce as it did for many people. There was so much about the new rules and mandates that were to be followed that didn't make any sense. Then in October of 2021 the "Biden Administration" mandated that all federal employees be fully vaccinated before November 22. Non-compliance with this mandate would result in disciplinary action up to and including termination.
At this point, Jeb felt it was time to stand. It was time to stand up against this mandate and everything else that went with it and on October 17, 2021, Jeb wrote an email stating his opposition to it all and sent it out to nearly 1500 government workers within WAPA all over the western United States. All levels of personnel, from craftspeople to upper management, received the email from someone they had never heard of before who was just doing what he felt he was "supposed to do." STANDING UP TO TYRANY. (You can read Jeb's email titled "October 17" below)
For doing this, Jeb was disciplined with 2 weeks off without pay. And it really appeared that he would be fired for non-compliance soon anyway. So, Jeb really started exploring what life was going to be like after powerlines. He began to use all the vacation time he had saved over the last 17 years and was able to be on "vacation" until after January 1st, 2022. He started by doing some handy man work but soon realized that there was a demand for tree services that was not being met. A couple responses to a simple craigslist add and Jeb was doing tree work. Every little job led to another little job and another. And a little more advertising and Jeb had more work than he could handle.
And suddenly, 413 Services, LLC was born. Jeb chose this name as it represents one of his favorite Bible verses. PHILIPPIANS 4:13 says "I can do ALL THINGS through Christ who strengthens me." He thought, "I can do ALL THINGS-----TREES!"
And so here Jeb is, with his family, continuing on this journey and adventure knowing and trusting and believing fully that THE BEST IS YET TO COME!
